Despite trading for former top-10 pick Josh Rosen during the draft, the Miami Dolphins don't appear to be handing him the starting quarterback job.

Rosen will compete with Ryan Fitzpatrick to start Week 1, and new head coach Brian Flores would have no issue with the 14-year veteran winning the battle in camp.

"If (Fitzpatrick) wins the competition, absolutely I'm good with that," Flores told reporters, according to Safid Deen of the Sun Sentinel. "I think that would be what's best for the team and best for the Miami Dolphins.

"That would be the same at all positions. We're going to play the players we feel that are going to win us football games."

Rosen was shipped to Miami from the Arizona Cardinals for a second-round pick and a 2020 fifth-rounder. He spent just one season in the desert before Arizona ditched its plan to build around him long term.

Though the young passer has spent little time with his new club, the first-year head coach is impressed with what he's seen so far.

"He's very bright," Flores said of Rosen. "He's really studying the information and trying to get it all down as quickly as he can.

"Josh, being here for a few weeks, I think he's done well. But there's such a long way to go."
