Richie Incognito lands deal with Raiders
Four-time Pro Bowl guard Richie Incognito finalized his return to the NFL by signing a contract with the Oakland Raiders, the team announced .
Incognito, who hasn't played in the NFL since the 2017 campaign, announced his intention to retire last spring but changed his mind days later. He was eventually released by the Buffalo Bills amid a contract dispute and wasn't picked up by another team at any point during the season.
Incognito, 35, received three straight Pro Bowl nods with the Bills from 2015-17 and earned another selection in 2012 as a member of the Miami Dolphins.
Though he's been an asset on the field for much of his career, Incognito possesses plenty of baggage off of it. He was at the center of the Dolphins' bullying scandal involving Jonathan Martin in 2013, was accused of hurling racial slurs at Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Yannick Ngakoue in the 2017-18 playoffs, and was arrested last August after threatening to shoot employees at a funeral home following the death of his father.
He was also forced to undergo a psychiatric evaluation last May after behaving erratically at a Florida gym.
A former third-round pick of the St. Louis Rams, Incognito broke into the league in 2005. He figures to compete for a starting spot on the Raiders' offensive line.
