The New York Jets announced that they interviewed Seattle Seahawks co-director of player personnel Scott Fitterer on Friday as they begin meeting with candidates for their general manager opening.

New Orleans Saints director of pro scouting Terry Fontenot will reportedly interview with the club Saturday, and a meeting with Philadelphia Eagles vice president of player personnel Joe Douglas is apparently set for Sunday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Douglas is widely considered the favorite to land the gig, according to The Associated Press' Dennis Waszak Jr.

New York will reportedly kick off next week by interviewing Chicago Bears assistant director of player personnel Champ Kelly, according to Rapoport. The Jets apparently also asked to speak with Minnesota Vikings assistant GM George Paton regarding the vacancy.

New York fired general manager Mike Maccagnan on May 15 following four seasons with the team and named head coach Adam Gase the interim GM.

The Jets have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2010 season and have finished with a winning record just once since then.
