Rodgers wants to target Adams more in 2019

Davante Adams ranked second in the NFL with 169 targets last season, but his quarterback may want that number even higher in 2019.

"I'd like to throw to Davante more," Green Bay Packers signal-caller Aaron Rodgers said following organized team activity practices, according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky. "He's that open. We've got to keep finding ways to get him the ball."

Adams has developed a strong rapport with Rodgers over the last three years and it may not be far-fetched for the 26-year-old to receive a higher volume of targets.

With Randall Cobb joining the Dallas Cowboys as a free agent, the Packers are relatively inexperienced at receiver. Geronimo Allison, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Equanimeous St. Brown, Trevor Davis, and Jake Kumerow will all compete for snaps behind Adams this summer.

Rodgers has historically spread the ball around but understands how a No. 1 target can benefit an offense.

"There's nothing wrong with having a go-to guy who's that dynamic and trying to find ways to get him the ball," he said. "(But) I think obviously we need complementary pieces in place."

Adams accumulated a career-high 111 catches, 1,386 receiving yards, and 13 touchdowns in 2018.
