Rolando McClain exploring NFL return
Rolando McClain is eyeing a comeback.
The former Dallas Cowboys linebacker has been in contact with the NFLPA and is undergoing the process of being reinstated by the league, McClain told AL.com's Matt Zenitz. He hopes to be signed by a team before training camps open later in July.
McClain, 29, hasn't played since 2015 and was suspended in 2016 for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.
The Oakland Raiders selected the Alabama product with the eighth overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. McClain spent three seasons with the club, totaling 245 tackles and 6.5 sacks.
McClain signed with the Baltimore Ravens in 2013 but retired before ever playing a snap for them. He came out of retirement the following year after the Cowboys acquired him via trade.
He posted 167 total tackles, three sacks, and three interceptions in two years with Dallas.
