Short on healthy receivers in the wake of Julian Edelman's thumb injury, the New England Patriots reportedly worked out free-agent wideout Justin Hunter on Monday, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
The well-traveled six-year vet spent the past two seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, playing in 12 games and catching seven passes. The Tennessee Titans second-round pick in 2013 also spent time with the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills.
New England could use an extra pair of hands with Edelman and Demaryius Thomas sidelined for the beginning of training camp. Healthy receivers remaining on the roster include Phillip Dorsett, Dontrelle Inman, Maurice Harris, Braxton Berrios, and rookie N'Keal Harry.
