Redskins release Mason Foster after 4 seasons
The Washington Redskins have released linebacker Mason Foster, the team announced Tuesday.
The transaction, which comes a day before Redskins players report for training camp, saves the club $4 million against the salary cap.
Foster has spent the past four seasons in Washington, and he was the team's leading tackler in 2018 with 131. He also recorded two interceptions, two fumble recoveries, and one sack last year.
With Reuben Foster out for the year due to a torn ACL, Jon Bostic, who the Redskins signed earlier this offseason, is expected to replace Mason Foster.
Foster's agent, Blake Baratz, took to Twitter to sound off on the timing of the move, saying the Redskins didn't act in "good faith" and the team wouldn't provide a reason for the release.
