Report: Free-agent RB Jay Ajayi medically cleared
Former Philadelphia Eagles running back Jay Ajayi was medically cleared Wednesday in Florida, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Ajayi tore his ACL in October 2018 while playing on the last year of his contract with the Eagles and hit the free-agent market after the season. Philadelphia has since bolstered its running back corps with the additions of Jordan Howard and Miles Sanders.
Before being sidelined last year, Ajayi averaged 46.0 rushing yards per game and had three touchdowns. In the 26-year-old's 2016 breakout campaign with the Miami Dolphins, he rushed for 1,272 yards and eight touchdowns on 260 carries.
Ajayi is among the most notable backs still available, with the likes of LeGarrette Blount, Alfred Morris, Alex Collins, and Jeremy Hill.
