Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury revealed why Robert Nkemdiche was placed on the physically unable to perform list to begin training camp, saying the defensive tackle's conditioning isn't up to par after rehabbing an ACL tear suffered last season
"(Nkemdiche is) not in shape, I guess," Kingsbury told reporters on Friday, according to Darren Urban of the team's website. "That's kind of where we'll leave it."
It's been an offseason to forget for the 2016 first-round pick. In addition to rehabbing the injury, he was arrested on June 6 for speeding and driving with a suspended license.
Nkemdiche suited up for 10 games in 2018, notching 4.5 sacks and one forced fumble. The Cardinals declined to pick up his fifth-year option in May.
