Report: Penn to sign 1-year deal with Redskins amid Williams' holdout

As Trent Williams continues his training-camp holdout, veteran left tackle Donald Penn will sign a one-year contract with the Washington Redskins on Wednesday, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Washington hosted Penn for a visit last week along with fellow tackle Corey Robinson, who was signed on Sunday.

Ereck Flowers is currently operating as Washington's first-team left tackle in camp but could move back to left guard upon Penn's reported arrival. Flowers struggled mightily on the edge when called upon through four NFL campaigns.

The Oakland Raiders released Penn, 36, in March after the club signed Trent Brown to a long-term contract. He was the Raiders' primary left tackle in each of the last five years, though his 2018 season was cut short due to a groin injury suffered in Week 4.

Williams, Washington's primary left tackle, is reportedly upset with how the Redskins handled a medical situation that involved removing a growth from his head. He's also seeking a new deal with two years remaining on his $68-million contract. There is no indication whether he plans on joining the team prior to the regular season if he isn't traded.
