The Seattle Seahawks may have received a boost to their pass rush, as head coach Pete Carroll said Friday he expects defensive end Ezekiel Ansah to be ready for Week 1, according to NBC Sports' Joe Fann.

Ansah is recovering from December shoulder surgery. He was cleared for training camp and has participated on a limited basis.

Previous reports indicated the 30-year-old could miss at least the first month of the regular season.

Ansah, who spent the previous six years with the Detroit Lions, battled through shoulder issues for much of the 2018 campaign. He played in seven games and landed on injured reserve late in the season.

The veteran pass-rusher underwent surgery shortly after, which slowed his market as a free agent. He notched just four sacks last year but amassed 12 in 2017.

Seattle will host the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1 on Sept. 8.
