Report: Clowney to report to Texans after 3rd preseason game
Houston Texans pass-rusher Jadeveon Clowney is planning to report to the team after its third preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys on Aug. 24, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, according to NFL.com's Kevin Patra.
Clowney would get a week to get in shape, although the Texans reportedly aren't worried about his fitness. He wouldn't play in Houston's preseason finale, according to Rapoport.
The 26-year-old was hit with the $15.98-million franchise tag March 4 but didn't sign it. Houston and Clowney failed to reach an agreement on a long-term deal before the July 15 deadline.
The former No. 1 overall pick hasn't attended any of the Texans' offseason activities and was initially expected to return to the team before its regular-season opener Sept. 9.
Clowney totaled 47 tackles, nine sacks, and three fumble recoveries during 2018.
