Stills criticizes Dolphins owner for hosting Trump fundraiser

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Kenny Stills called out team owner Stephen Ross on Wednesday for reportedly hosting a fundraiser for President Donald Trump's re-election campaign.

Ross apparently will host the event at his home in the Hamptons on Friday, according to Michelle Ye Hee Lee of The Washington Post.

Stills responded to the article by tweeting out a screenshot of the mission statement of Ross' non-profit, "Ross Initiative in Sports and Equality."

"We are a national nonprofit that educates and empowers the sports community to eliminate racial discrimination, champion social justice, and improve race relations." reads the statement.

A source close to Ross told Safid Deen of the South Florida Sun Sentinel that the owner doesn't support the president's views on race.

"They agree on some things and disagree on others, specifically on the rhetoric around race," the source said. "With regards to race, Stephen's record on fighting racism speaks for itself. It is possible to support someone on the basis of some things, and not agree with everything about them."

According to The Post, the price of entry for Ross' fundraiser apparently ranges from $5,600 to $250,000.

Tickets priced at $100,000 will get attendees a photo opportunity with Trump, while the $250,000 package includes a seat at the private roundtable with the president.

Stills has been among the NFL's most vocal players regarding social injustices and was one of the remaining players who continued to protest during the national anthem last season.

The receiver has spent four seasons in Miami. He led the Dolphins with six receiving touchdowns and was second in team receiving yards in 2018.
