Theo Riddick suffered a slight shoulder fracture Thursday during his preseason debut with the Denver Broncos, sources told Mike Klis of 9News.

The running back is reportedly expected to be out six-to-eight weeks, meaning he'll likely miss at least two games to begin the regular season.

Riddick, 28, signed with the Broncos early in training camp after he was cut by the Detroit Lions. He figured to slot in behind Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman on the depth chart and receive snaps on passing downs.

In his first exhibition game with Denver, Riddick lost two yards on one carry and failed to haul in either of his two pass targets against the Seattle Seahawks.
