Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield reached out to New York Giants rookie passer Daniel Jones after his recent interview with GQ magazine created a firestorm.
Mayfield said he contacted Jones to "clear the air" after he was quoted saying he couldn't believe the Giants used their sixth overall pick to select Jones in this year's draft.
"It had nothing to do specifically about Daniel, about the winning and stuff. But I reached out to Daniel because all of that blew way out of hand," Mayfield said. "I wanted him to know how I felt, and I've heard nothing but great things from Saquon (Barkley) and Sterling Shepard, guys that have a lot of respect for him and that I respect their opinions."
