Report: Redskins reject Pats' trade offer of 1st-rounder for Trent Williams

The Washington Redskins turned down a potential trade with the New England Patriots that would have sent offensive tackle Trent Williams to the defending Super Bowl champions for a 2020 first-round pick, Kevin Sheehan of Team 980 reports.

It was reported last week that the Redskins turned down offers from multiple teams for Williams as they don't intend to part ways with the seven-time Pro Bowler.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, however, has since denied the reported trade offer, citing a source.

Williams hasn't attended any team activities throughout the summer and is apparently unhappy about the way Washington's staff handled a previous medical diagnosis. He underwent a procedure to remove a growth - initially feared to be malignant - from his head in the spring.

The 31-year-old has become one of the league's top tackles since being drafted fourth overall in 2010, though injuries have plagued him over the past two years.

New England lost Trent Brown in free agency. Isaiah Wynn, the team's 2018 first-round pick who missed his rookie season with a torn Achilles, appears poised to start at left tackle for the Patriots in 2019.
