Report: Patriots' Andrews hospitalized with blood clots, season at risk
New England Patriots center David Andrews was reportedly hospitalized with blood clots in his lungs, sources told Jeff Howe of The Athletic.
The starter is expected to miss significant time, and his entire season could be in jeopardy, Howe reports.
He was apparently released from hospital Monday after undergoing treatment, a source told Jim McBride of the Boston Globe.
Andrews has played in 46 of 48 regular-season games since beating out Bryan Stork for the full-time role in 2016. He's started all of New England's playoff games during the team's three straight trips to the Super Bowl.
If Andrews is sidelined, the Patriots will likely turn to Ted Karras, who has appeared in 45 games (five starts) in three seasons as the team's go-to option behind the starting interior offensive line.
The potential loss would be a major blow to a unit that's already set to start a new left tackle in Isaiah Wynn.
