The Chicago Bears signed guard Cody Whitehair to a five-year contract extension Sunday, according to Larry Mayer of the team's official site.
Whitehair will reportedly receive $52.5 million on his new deal, which also includes $27.5 million in guarantees - the second-largest guaranteed amount for a guard extension in NFL history, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The Bears selected the Kansas State product in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He's started every game since entering the league - 44 at center, three at right guard, and one at left guard.
With James Daniels moving to center in 2019, the versatile Whitehair will shift to left guard full time.
