Beckham plans to wear luxury watch on field again
Odell Beckham Jr. violated an NFL rule when he wore a $189,000 watch on the field in Week 1, but it appears a warning from the league office isn't enough to force the Cleveland Browns receiver to ditch the accessory.
Beckham said Tuesday that he plans to wear the watch again.
"I'll still be wearing it," he said, according to Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot.
"The same way I wear it every day, at practice, I go here, I go there. I've been wearing it. Take a shower with it on. It's just on me."
An NFL rule prohibits players from wearing hard objects on the field. Beckham contends that his watch "shouldn't be an issue."
"You've got to look into the rulebook. It says you can't wear any hard objects. The watch is plastic," Beckham said. "But people have knee braces on that are hard and made out of metal and you don't see them taping it up. No jewelry on, so I'm good."
The star wideout believes the watch wouldn't be an issue if it was worn by a different player, and added that he'd prefer the attention be directed at his play on the field.
Beckham caught seven passes for 71 yards on 11 targets in the Browns' 43-13 blowout loss to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
