Redskins place Guice on IR
The Washington Redskins placed running back Derrius Guice on injured reserve after he underwent surgery on his meniscus Thursday, the team announced Friday.
The Redskins plan to bring Guice back after eight weeks, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The recovery timeline was initially pegged at four-to-six weeks.
The meniscus issue is in Guice's right knee, so it's unrelated to the ACL tear suffered in his left knee last year, which required several procedures due to infections and kept the LSU product out of his whole rookie campaign.
Redskins head coach Jay Gruden announced earlier this week that he would be going with the team's 2018 Offensive Player of the Year, Adrian Peterson, as the starting running back going forward.
Washington also placed tackle Caleb Brantley on IR and signed free-agent cornerback Aaron Colvin in a corresponding move.
