Packers' Williams, Eagles' Maddox stretchered off after vicious hits
Green Bay Packers running back Jamaal Williams was stretchered off the field after sustaining a blow to the head on the Packers' first offensive play of Thursday night's contest against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Williams was stood up by a handful of tacklers before Eagles defender Derek Barnett came in with a helmet-to-helmet blow.
The 24-year-old was ruled out for the remainder of the game but had feeling and movement in all his extremities, the Packers announced.
Williams gave the crowd at Lambeau Field a thumbs-up as he was taken off the field. Barnett received an unnecessary roughness penalty on the play.
Later in the game, Eagles corner Avonte Maddox suffered a similar blow from teammate Andrew Sendejo.
Maddox was down on the field for several minutes and had to be stretchered to the locker room. He had movement in all his extremities but was taken to the hospital for "precautionary reasons," the Eagles announced.
