Diggs absent from practice for non-injury reasons
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Stefon Diggs missed practice Wednesday for undisclosed reasons not related to injury.
The Vikings provided no other details on his absence. A team official didn't know why Diggs wasn't in attendance, according to Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
Diggs had seven receptions for 108 yards - both season highs - in the Vikings' Week 4 loss to the Chicago Bears. The 25-year-old, who was quiet over the first three weeks, created a buzz the next day by tweeting a curious emoji.
Along with co-star Adam Thielen, Diggs has appeared frustrated on the field at times this season. Thielen said following the Bears loss that Minnesota's run-heavy offense was too one-dimensional. Diggs hasn't given an interview in two weeks.
Diggs has been the subject of trade speculation since the offseason, but there have been no credible reports to suggest he's actually available. In fact, one team that would have interest in acquiring him told ESPN's Josina Anderson it was informed the Vikings won't move him.
One of the top possession receivers in the NFL, Diggs topped the 1,000-yard mark in 2018 for the first time in his career. The Maryland product is under contract through the 2023 campaign.
Minnesota, which alternated wins and losses through the first quarter of the season, will open the October portion of its schedule Sunday against the New York Giants.
