Archie Manning says grandson is 'ahead of' where Peyton, Eli were in HS
The Manning football dynasty appears to be far from over.
Arch Manning, the son of Cooper Manning and nephew of Peyton and Eli, is a freshman and starting quarterback for the varsity team at Isidore Newman School in New Orleans. And according to his grandfather, he's been playing better than Arch's uncles did at his age.
"He's probably a little ahead of them as a freshman," Archie Manning told Dana Hunsinger Benbow of the Indianapolis Star.
Peyton and Eli attended Isidore Newman as well, but unlike the 6-foot-1 Arch, they didn't start until their sophomore years.
Arch has already drawn interest from Ole Miss, Archie and Eli's alma mater, and Tennessee, where Peyton played. Archie and Cooper are doing their best to keep the pressure off him, though.
"(Arch is) playing good, he's on a good team, they're having a lot of success and having a lot of fun and that’s the way it should be," Archie said. "That's the one thing I always told my kids and I'll tell Arch the day before a game. 'Go have fun.'"
