Los Angeles Rams linebacker Clay Matthews suffered a broken jaw during Thursday Night Football and will be sidelined for at least one month, the team announced Friday.
Matthews will undergo surgery to fix his jaw. The veteran has been brilliant in his first campaign with the Rams, picking up six sacks and two forced fumbles over his first five games. He inked a two-year deal with Los Angeles in free agency this offseason after a decade with the Green Bay Packers.
The 33-year-old had five tackles and a sack in a losing effort against the Seattle Seahawks in the Week 5 contest.
Los Angeles also announced wide receiver Brandin Cooks, who left Thursday's contest to be evaluated for a head injury, has been placed in the concussion protocol.
