Report: Gurley's Week 6 status unclear due to quad injury
Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley's status for Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers is "up in the air" after he suffered a quad injury in Week 5, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Head coach Sean McVay said Wednesday that Gurley, who didn't practice, is day-to-day due to the left thigh contusion.
"I think we just want to take it a day at a time. A lot of these conversations entail how's he feeling, what kind of progress does he make throughout the course of the week," McVay said. "But fortunately for us, we've got some depth at that position.
"We've talked about it, whether it's this week at some point, the confidence we have in Malcolm (Brown), but then there's also going to be a time we rely on Darrell Henderson, and it might end up being this week."
McVay said Gurley's injury caught the team "off guard." He added that the Rams knew the running back was dealing with pain following the loss to the Seattle Seahawks, but they were surprised the soreness lingered into the start of this week's preparations.
Gurley struggled with a knee injury late last season. However, while his workload has decreased to start the campaign, the former Offensive Player of the Year has appeared to be fully healthy.
