The Seattle Seahawks acquired defensive back Quandre Diggs and a seventh-round draft pick in 2021 from the Detroit Lions for a 2020 fifth-round pick, the team announced on Tuesday.
Diggs is a versatile defender who can line up at safety or slot corner, though Detroit deployed him as a deep-lying defender this season. He's flashed skills in coverage but is particularly adept in run defense.
Seattle was in need of safety depth as veteran Bradley McDougald and rookie Marquise Blair are currently battling injuries.
Former Lions teammate Darius Slay did not appear pleased with the deal.
Matt Patricia will likely use Tavon Wilson or rookie Will Harris at safety across from Tracy Walker following the trade.
