Adrian Peterson continues to defy Father Time.

In his return to Minnesota on Thursday night, the Washington Redskins running back jumped Jerome Bettis and LaDainian Tomlinson to move into sixth place on the all-time rushing yards list.

Peterson passed Bettis (13,662) and Tomlinson (13,648) with a bruising third-quarter run that was reminiscent of his dominant days with the Vikings:

The 34-year-old now trails only Emmitt Smith (18,355), Walter Payton (16,726), Barry Sanders (15,269), Frank Gore (15,136), and Curtis Martin (14,101) in NFL history.

Peterson racked up 11,747 yards in 10 seasons with the Vikings before brief stints with the Arizona Cardinals and New Orleans Saints.

Last season, the future Hall of Famer had his first 1,000-yard season since 2015 after taking over for the injured Derrius Guice.
