Belichick open to coaching beyond 70

Bad news, NFL. Bill Belichick isn't planning to retire anytime soon.

The New England Patriots head coach, 67, who previously said he didn't plan to coach into his 70s, left the door open for himself to continue his career beyond that mark Monday.

"When I said it (in the 2009 documentary 'A Football Life: Bill Belichick'), maybe I didn't know what 70 felt like," Belichick said during his appearance on WEEI's "Ordway, Merloni, and Fauria" radio show. "So, not really sure if that's an accurate statement today or not. I don't really know. At the time, I didn't feel that way. Now that I'm closer to that age, I don't know."

Belichick became just the third coach in NFL history to record 300 career wins with New England's 27-13 victory Sunday over the Cleveland Browns.

The six-time Super Bowl winner could conceivably catch Don Shula (347 wins) and George Halas (324) if he coaches into his early 70s.
