The Carolina Panthers claimed wide receiver Donte Moncrief off waivers from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Carolina will assume what remains of the two-year, $9-million deal Moncrief inked with Pittsburgh last offseason. The 26-year-old got off to a miserable start with the Steelers, suffering from drops before being stripped of his starting spot and eventually waived.
Moncrief posted four receptions for 18 yards in his short-lived Steelers tenure. He'll join a Panthers receiving corps headlined by Curtis Samuel and DJ Moore.
Last season, Moncrief caught 48 passes for 668 yards and three touchdowns for the Jacksonville Jaguars, making it the second-most productive campaign of his career.
The Panthers sit second in the NFC South at 5-3.
