Philip Rivers' leash appears to be tightening amid his recent struggles.
The Los Angeles Chargers could bench the veteran quarterback if his slide continues Sunday against the Denver Broncos, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
Los Angeles sits at 4-7, two games behind the final AFC wild-card spot. Head coach Anthony Lynn would prefer not to make a change under center, so he won't be quick to pull the plug, Rapoport adds.
Rivers has thrown just 15 touchdowns through 11 games, and his 14 interceptions are his most since 2016. He's never tossed less than 20 scores in his career as a starter.
Tyrod Taylor is the team's backup and would replace the 37-year-old in the event of a benching.
