Jerry Jones: 'Jason Garrett will be coaching in the NFL' in 2020
Jerry Jones believes Jason Garrett will have a job in 2020, though he offered no assurances the Dallas Cowboys will be the team to provide it.
"In my opinion, Jason Garrett will be coaching in the NFL next year," the Cowboys owner told 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday.
Garrett has been under fire for weeks - if not years - but Jones has continually ignored fans' pleas for a coaching change. The embattled coach doesn't have a contract for 2020.
"First of all, Jason Garrett is a good coach," Jones said, addressing his reluctance to make an in-season switch. "He's also one of the hardest working coaches. He knows this team better than anybody. ... I'm glad to have him. He is the guy for the job."
The Cowboys were expected to contend for the Super Bowl after returning the core that won the NFC East title in 2018. But they have yet to defeat a team with a winning record this season and have dropped three of their last four contests.
Dallas, which miraculously sits atop the division with a 6-6 record, will close out the regular season with games against the Chicago Bears, Los Angeles Rams, Philadelphia Eagles, and Washington Redskins.
