New York Jets running back Le'Veon Bell won't play Sunday against the Miami Dolphins due to an illness.
Bell had his status downgraded Saturday after initially being listed as questionable. The 27-year-old missed two practices at the end of the week because of the bug.
The Jets figure to split backfield responsibilities in Week 14 between Bilal Powell and Ty Montgomery. New York will be looking to avenge its loss to Miami earlier in the season when the two clubs reconvene at MetLife Stadium.
Bell is mired in his worst season since entering the NFL, averaging a career-low 3.2 yards per carry. He has 589 rushing yards and three touchdowns over 12 games.
