When the New York Giants released Janoris Jenkins on Friday, the cornerback tweeted that it was the "best news ever." The good news keeps coming then, as Jenkins is expected to land with a playoff contender, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

The AFC West champion Kansas City Chiefs and AFC South-leading Houston Texans are likely landing spots for the eight-year veteran, sources told Schefter.

Jenkins can be claimed off waivers Monday. If he clears as an injured player, he'll revert back to the Giants' injured reserve, but the team is expected to waive him from IR and send the player back on waivers for a second time from Monday to Tuesday, Schefter adds.

If claimed, Jenkins would be owed nearly $1.2 million for the remainder of the season. He's also signed for 2020 at $11.25 million.

Nevertheless, the 31-year-old is expected to be on a new team by Week 16.

The Giants released Jenkins after he refused to apologize for calling a fan a "retard" in a tweet.
