Jerry 'not worried' about Prescott's shoulder injury
The NFC East title is within reach for the Dallas Cowboys, but they'll attempt to clinch their playoff berth Sunday with quarterback Dak Prescott battling an injury to his throwing shoulder.
While Prescott was limited Wednesday for the first time in his career, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Thursday he's unconcerned about his status ahead of the pivotal game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
"You like for everybody to be out there practicing, but I'm totally convinced that he'll be in top form and we've got to have him in top form and he will be in top form," Jones said on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, per ESPN's Todd Archer. "So, I think the situation has been described accurately. These are things guys play with and they practice with. So, we're in good shape. Not worried about it."
Prescott is expected to be ready to face the Eagles despite the sprained shoulder, but he likely won't take any meaningful snaps in practice during the week, a source told Archer.
Head coach Jason Garrett said Prescott is "progressing" from the injury sustained last week against the Los Angeles Rams. He added the quarterback, who didn't throw during the open portion of Dallas' practice Wednesday, hasn't tested the injury much.
Backup Cooper Rush took over duties with the starting unit. The former undrafted free agent has thrown three passes in three seasons.
If Dallas beats Philadelphia, it will retain the division crown. A loss for the Cowboys would open the door for the Eagles, who would then have to beat the Washington Redskins in the regular-season finale to seal their place in the playoffs.
