Eagles' Ertz suffered rib injury vs. Cowboys, will undergo more tests
Philadelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz played through a rib injury during Sunday's crucial win over the Dallas Cowboys, head coach Doug Pederson announced Monday, according to Zach Berman of The Athletic.
"He took the shot there in the first half," said Pederson. "There is a rib that has been affected. I am waiting, from our doctors, a couple more tests. We'll all see later today. Should have something more tomorrow or Thursday."
Ertz headed to the locker room during the first half but was able to return and help Philadelphia take a big step toward the NFC East title. He finished with four catches for 28 yards.
With its wide receiver group ravaged by injuries, Philadelphia has relied heavily on Ertz to carry the passing game. The 29-year-old leads the team in catches (88), yards (916), receiving touchdowns (six), and targets (135).
The Eagles still need to match the Cowboys' result in Week 17 to secure their playoff spot.
