NFL dominates most-watched TV programs of past decade
Americans watched a lot of football during the 2010s.
Nielsen data from the past 10 years shows that NFL games accounted for one-third of the 199 most-watched prime-time television programs of the decade, with Super Bowls XLIV through LIII claiming the top 10 spots, according to Rick Porter of The Hollywood Reporter.
Super Bowl XLIX, which saw the New England Patriots defeat the Seattle Seahawks, led the way with 114.44 million viewers. That was followed by Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014 (112.19 million), 2016's Super Bowl 50 (111.86 million), 2012's Super Bowl XLVI (111.35 million), 2017's Super Bowl LI (111.32 million), 2011's Super Bowl XLV (111.04 million), 2013's Super Bowl XLVII (108.69 million), 2010's Super Bowl XLIV (106.48 million), 2018's Super Bowl LIII (103.47 million), and 2019's Super Bowl LIII (98.48).
Several NFL conference championships, divisional-round playoff games, and regular-season matchups also made the list.
