Report: Chan Gailey ending retirement to become Dolphins OC
Veteran NFL coach Chan Gailey is coming out of retirement to become the Miami Dolphins' offensive coordinator, sources told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport.
Gailey most recently held the same role for the New York Jets, retiring after engineering the league's 26th-ranked offense in 2016. The 67-year-old was head coach of the Buffalo Bills from 2010-12 and Dallas Cowboys from 1998-99.
The Dolphins lured Gailey out of retirement after firing first-year coordinator Chad O'Shea, who accompanied head coach Brian Flores to Miami from the New England Patriots.
Miami ranked 27th in offense in 2019 and averaged a league-low 72.3 rushing yards per game. The Dolphins are widely expected to select a quarterback with one of their three first-round picks in the 2020 NFL Draft.
