Ertz details injuries suffered vs. Cowboys: 'I wanted to play for this city'
There's little denying Zach Ertz's toughness as the Philadelphia Eagles concluded their 2019 campaign.
Following Philadelphia's wild-card loss to the Seattle Seahawks, Ertz detailed the injuries he suffered during a Week 16 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
The star tight end said he suffered two non-displaced fractures in his ribs and found blood in his urine after the game, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. Eagles doctors and athletic trainers had to rush him to the hospital, and he was unable to get out of bed on his own the next day.
"I wanted to play for this city," he said. "I take a lot of pride playing for my teammates."
After taking a hard shot against Dallas, Ertz suffered a lacerated kidney in addition to the fractured ribs. He missed the regular-season finale before being cleared to play against Seattle.
The Eagles' leading receiver this year, Ertz caught 88 passes for 916 yards and six touchdowns in 2019.
