Jaguars mutually part ways with OC DeFilippo

The Jacksonville Jaguars have mutually parted ways with offensive coordinator John DeFilippo after just one season, the team announced on Monday.

The Jaguars ranked 20th in the league in total offense and 26th in points scored in 2019, averaging 18.8 points per game. The season prior, Jacksonville ranked 31st in points (15.3 per game) and 27th in total offense.

DeFilippo's had three separate stints as an offensive coordinator and each term lasted just one season.

A quarterbacks coach from 2007 to 2014 with time split between the Oakland Raiders, New York Jets, and San Jose State, DeFilippo was hired as the Cleveland Browns' OC in 2015. He was let go after a 3-13 season and joined the Philadelphia Eagles as a quarterbacks coach from 2016 to 2017.

He left the Eagles after their Super Bowl triumph to become the Minnesota Vikings' offensive coordinator in 2018. He was fired after Minnesota's 6-6-1 start.

The 2019 Jaguars went 6-10 and finished last in the AFC South.

Jaguars executive vice president of football operations Tom Coughlin was fired before the end of the season while head coach Doug Marrone and general manager Dave Caldwell were retained.
