Super Bowl LIV creating 'record-breaking demand' for tickets
Ticket prices are skyrocketing for Super Bowl LIV.
Since the matchup was set between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers, tickets have sold for an average cost of $6,785 on SeatGeek, according to Zach Braziller of the New York Post. The average resale price is $6,232 and the cheapest ticket is around $5,500.
"In general, it's record-breaking demand," SeatGeek communications manager Chris Leyden told Braziller. "It seems like the market is about 20 percent hotter than we anticipated."
On Vivid Seats, the average cost of tickets sold is $5,471, with the cheapest ticket hovering at $4,342. Company spokesperson Stephen Spiewak said the Chiefs' Super Bowl drought is "driving intense demand."
The Chiefs last won the Super Bowl in 1970, while the 49ers' most recent championship was in 1995.
Super Bowl LIV takes place Feb. 2 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.
