Report: Dolphins owner wants to draft Burrow
Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross wants his team to select Heisman Trophy and national championship-winning quarterback Joe Burrow with its first-round draft pick, reports Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.
The Dolphins entered the 2019 season as the favorite to secure the first overall pick in the 2020 draft, but the team won more games than expected, finishing the campaign with a record of 5-11. As a result, the Dolphins own the fifth overall pick and are at the mercy of the four teams ahead of them.
The Cincinnati Bengals own the first selection in the draft and reportedly have no intention of trading the pick.
The Dolphins will likely have to trade a number of assets, including first-round picks, in order to have a shot at selecting Burrow. Miami owns the fifth, 18th, and 26th overall picks in the draft.
