Jaguars hire Jay Gruden as OC
The Jacksonville Jaguars hired former Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden as their offensive coordinator, the team announced Wednesday.
Gruden called plays throughout his tenure with the Redskins and prior to that when he served as the Cincinnati Bengals' offensive coordinator. He is a disciple of the West Coast offense.
Gruden led the Redskins from 2014 until his firing five games into the 2019 season. He amassed a 35-49-1 record as the head coach in Washington.
The Jaguars began searching for a new offensive coordinator after firing John DeFilippo at the end of his first season. Head coach Doug Marrone is embarking on a pivotal fourth campaign in charge, as owner Shad Khan elected to stick with him despite a disappointing 6-10 record in 2019.
