Report: Chargers to make Taylor starter after missing on Brady
The Los Angeles Chargers will move forward with Tyrod Taylor as their starting quarterback and aren't expected to sign or trade for a veteran after failing to sign Tom Brady, reports NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Taylor was signed as the Chargers' backup quarterback last offseason and is familiar with head coach Anthony Lynn's system. Lynn was his offensive coordinator and interim head coach while with the Buffalo Bills.
Los Angeles had been linked to a handful of signal-callers in some capacity after opting not to re-sign Philip Rivers, including Brady, Cam Newton, and Jameis Winston.
The Chargers could still select a quarterback early in April's draft. They currently hold the sixth overall pick and could target top prospects Tua Tagovailoa, Justin Herbert, or Jordan Love.
Taylor last spent time as a starter with the Cleveland Browns in 2018. He completed 49% of his passes for 473 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions across three starts that season.
