Falcons announce Gurley signing despite reported lack of physical
The Atlanta Falcons announced the signing of Todd Gurley on Monday, but while terms have been agreed upon, an examination of the star running back's health reportedly has yet to happen.
Gurley, who has an arthritic knee, hasn't yet taken a physical, a source told Adam Schefter of ESPN.
NFL teams are prohibited from traveling to meet players due to restrictions implemented to combat the coronavirus pandemic. However, they can get the player to undergo a physical in their home city from a third-party doctor.
Chronic knee issues appeared to cause a decrease in Gurley's workload and efficiency with the Los Angeles Rams last season. He finished the year with 1,064 yards and 14 touchdowns from scrimmage, a sharp decline from 1,831 yards and 21 scores in 2018.
