Ngakoue wants to play where 'winning is a habit'
Yannick Ngakoue doesn't just want to leave the Jacksonville Jaguars, he wants to land with a proven winner.
"... The type of team that I would love to join is a team that has great culture," the defensive end told ESPN on Tuesday, according to Eliot Shorr-Parks of 94 WIP. "I really want to be a part of a team that has great culture and winning is a habit. I don't want to be part of a team where losing is a norm or anything of that nature. I want to be a part of something special."
Ngakoue reiterated Tuesday that he isn't interested in signing a long-term deal with the Jaguars, who used the franchise tag to prevent him from hitting free agency.
"The organization had the opportunity to keep me long term last offseason, and things kind of broke off," he said. "Everything happens for a reason and not everything lasts forever. Things come to an end. It is time for me to move on to the next chapter of my career. I am thankful for what Jacksonville has brought to me and my family, but it is time for me to move on."
The 25-year-old is coming off an eight-sack campaign, and he hasn't recorded less than that total in any of his four career seasons.
The Jaguars have reportedly been asking teams for a package that includes a first-round pick in trade talks.
Ngakoue has made Philadelphia Eagles-themed posts on social media in recent weeks, and he's been linked to the Seattle Seahawks. It's unknown how serious either club is about acquiring him.
