McCoy eyeing contenders, hopes to play 2 more years

LeSean McCoy is looking to sign with a contender and hopes to play two more seasons in the NFL, the veteran running back said Friday on SiriusXM NFL Radio.

"I have a couple teams that I'm looking at, I'm just waiting for the right moment," he said. "This stuff is tricky now, because there's no visits, there's no real activities with the teams as much as it used to be. The thing I can control is just making the right choice, going to an offense that fits. I want to go to a team that's a winning franchise that has all the right pieces that's waiting for me, that veteran running back to help the room out, to add a spark. The teams that I'm looking at right now are those teams."

McCoy spent the 2019 season with the Kansas City Chiefs, inking a one-year deal following his preseason release from the Buffalo Bills. He rushed for 465 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 4.6 yards per carry in a limited role.

The 31-year-old added that he expects to sign a contract "probably after the draft or right before the draft."

McCoy saw his playing time regress last year as the season progressed. He was a healthy scratch for Super Bowl LIV, where the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers.

But he believes he still has enough gas in the tank to stick around in the league for a couple of more years.

"I talk to Frank (Gore) about this," he said. "He always tells me: 'Never put a ceiling on your career. Hey, if you feel good after this year and you do well, do another one year, and vice versa. If it doesn't go well, just let your body talk to you.' My body feels fine."

McCoy has split his 11-year career between the Philadelphia Eagles, Bills, and Chiefs. The Pitt product was recently named to the NFL's 2010s All-Decade Team.
