Report: Trade rumor involving Beckham, Vikings 'false'
Odell Beckham Jr. isn't on the move again.
The Cleveland Browns' star wide receiver was the subject of a trade rumor involving the Minnesota Vikings on Wednesday that was quickly contradicted.
Marc Malusis of WFAN Sports Radio reported that the Browns and Vikings were in discussions about a trade that would send Beckham to Minnesota for a second-round pick and a 2021 fifth-rounder, citing a source.
However, the rumor is "false," a source close to the Vikings told Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.
Beckham has already been traded once in his career. In March 2019, the Browns acquired the wideout from the New York Giants for a first-rounder, third-rounder, and safety Jabrill Peppers.
The Vikings are in need of a receiver after trading Stefon Diggs to the Buffalo Bills for a package that included a first-round pick.
While Beckham is coming off one of the worst statistical seasons of his career, it would be a shock if Cleveland parted with him for a deal that didn't include a first-round selection.
Beckham publically committed to the Browns last December after it was reported that, in October, he'd encouraged opposing players and coaches to pry him loose from Cleveland.
