Report: Bengals' Mixon could hold out without new deal
Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon is "prepared for a holdout" this offseason if he isn't given a contract extension, according to The Athletic's Paul Dehner Jr.
Mixon is entering the final year of his rookie deal and is slated to earn $1.73 million.
The 23-year-old has racked up a combined 2,305 rushing yards, 583 receiving yards, and 17 total touchdowns over the last two seasons.
Only five running backs are slated to earn more than $10 million in 2020. Carolina Panthers star Christian McCaffrey became the highest-paid running back Tuesday by signing a deal reportedly worth $16 million per season.
Ezekiel Elliott ($15 million), Le'Veon Bell ($13.25 million), David Johnson ($13 million), and Derrick Henry ($10.28-million franchise tag) are the other four running backs atop the market.
