The latest submissions to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office came after "Tompa Bay" T-shirts began circulating online.
A St. Petersburg resident applied for the "Tompa Bay" trademark on March 31, while a Phoenix resident filed to trademark "Tompa Bay" on March 18. The person in Phoenix also requested trademarks for "Tompa Bay Beach Club," "Tompa Bay Florida," and "Tompa Bay Buccaneers."
