Rams' Brian Allen becomes 1st NFL player to test positive for COVID-19

Los Angeles Rams center Brian Allen is the first NFL player to test positive for COVID-19, telling Jay Glazer of FOX Sports he tested positive three weeks ago and again early last week.

Allen told Glazer he first lost all sense of smell and taste before experiencing a periodically sore throat, fatigue, and headaches, among other symptoms. The 24-year-old said he's now symptom-free.

Rams head coach Sean McVay spoke to Glazer on "FOX Football Now" on Wednesday night and said Allen immediately informed the team of his positive test, allowing the Rams to be "timely in our response" to ensure no one else was exposed to the virus.

"I talked to (Allen) yesterday as well, I'm really glad to hear that he's feeling good, he's healthy, and he's on the road to recovery because I think we all understand the severity of what this has meant for some people," McVay said. "Fortunately for Brian, he's on the road to recovery."

The NFL has closed facilities league-wide to reduce the spread of the novel coronavirus.
